ESP 2-1 ENG, Euro 2024 final highlights: Oyarzabal scores late winner as Spain beats England to win record fourth title

Luis de la Fuente leads the line for the four-time champion. Andreas Iniesta, Xavi and David Villa look on from the stands as the new generation comes up on the dias to receive their medals.

Alvaro Morata is the last player to receive the medal and he carries the trophy to an eager Spain squad.

He riles them up and lifts the trophy as the fireworks begin in the background.

SPAIN IS EUROPEAN CHAMPION FOR A RECORD FOURTH TIME!!

Harry Kane leads the line for his second consecutive runner-up medal. Gareth Southgate is the last person to receive the medal as the Spain players line up. 

The referees and match officials are now receiving their medals

Rodri receives the Player of the tournament award.

Lamine Yamal receives the Young Player of the tournament award.

The officials are making their way into the pitch and onto the dias to give out the awards. Chiellini brings out the Euro trophy once again which will be lifted by Alvaro Morata in a few moments.

The England players are stunned as Gareth Southgate goes around consoling them. The Spanish players on the other hand cannot wait to get the party starting.

And that is it for the tournament. The referee blows the whistle for full time and the Spain players are running around the ground in elation.

SPAIN WINS A RECORD FOURTH EURO TITLE!!!

Its now or never for England. Guehi wins a freekick in the middle of the pitch. Pickford launches it forward and Cucurella wins a freekick on the right side of the box.

Watkins is booked for a foul on Nacho.

Four minutes of added time to play.

Corner comes in for England and Guehi’s header is cleared off the line by Olmo.

England: Foden is replaced by Ivan Toney

Spain: Yamal is replaced by Mikel Merino

Oyarzabal scores!! Cucurella is passed the ball on the left wing. He runs up to the ball and hits it first time to the six-yard area. Oyarzabal just has to take a touch to push the ball past the keeper.

Corner comes in for Spain from the right. Stones reads it wella and heads the ball away.

Spain: Le Normand is replaced by Nacho

Williams advances with the ball and plays a one-two with Olmo to set up Yamal inside the box. He tries to find the bottom corner but Pickford makes a good save to push the ball away.

Carvajal tries to play Oyarzabal through on the right. However he slips and the ball goes out for a goal kick.

Spain is enjoying a spell of possession but England is not giving any space. Carvajal curls in a cross which is missed by everyone. Williams recovers and wins a corner for Spain.

England is looking more and more confident now with Palmer and Saka causing Cucurella problems on the right wing.

Palmer scores!! Saka with the wing and plays it to Bellingham inside the box. He touches it off for Palmer who hits it first time from the edge of the box. His strike is perfect as he finds the bottom left corner.

ALL LEVEL IN THE FINAL

England: Mainoo is replaced by Cole Palmer

Corner comes in from the left for Spain. Pickford comes off his line and punches the ball away.

Ruiz receives the ball outside the box and goes for an ambitious shot which sails over the bar.

Cucurella intercepts Pickford’s pass to Saka and the ball falls to Morata who feeds Yamal on the right. He cuts to his left and takes a shot, forcing Pickford to make a brilliant save which takes the ball past the left post.

Spain: Morata is replaced by Mikel Oyarzabal

Dani Carvajal wears the captain’s armband for Spain.

Walker tries to play over the top for Watkins. It ends up going for a goal kick in the end.

Saka plays the ball to Bellingham outside the box. He turns away brilliantly and takes a shot with his left which whizzes past the left post.

Foden stands over the freekick and puts in the cross. The Spanish defence does well to head the ball away.

Saka is brought down by Williams on the right side of the box.

England is on the attack now. Saka plays a ball into the right side of the box for Fode. His cut-back pass is cleared away by Carvajal.

England: Harry Kane is replaced by Ollie Watkins

Kyle Walker wears the captain’s armband for England.

Ollie Watkins is warming up and changing his kit on the sidelines.

Morata makes a good run into the box and receives the ball. He puts that ball past Pickford but Stones tracks back well to clear the ball away. 

The follow-up ends with Williams taking a shot from the edge of the box, which goes wide of the left post.

Carvajal plays the ball to Morata who does not pass the ball to Nico Williams but instead goes for a shot himself. Guehi positions himself well to make a block.

Stones is booked for pulling down Zubimendi while he was trying to break away on the counter.

England is in a hurry now. Saka gets the ball on the right but cannot go past Cucurella. England has numbers in the box as Walker plays a cross from the right. The ball sails over everyone in the box and goes out for a throw-in.

Spain is on the attack again. Williama gets the ball and plays it to Olmo in the middle. He takes a turn and shoots the ball which goes just wide of the right post.

Williams scores!! Yamal gets the ball on the right side of the box. He cuts into his left and picks out Nico Williams on the left side of the box who has an easy finish with his left.

SPAIN TAKES THE LEAD IN BERLIN!!

Spain kicks off the second half shooting from left to right. 

Spain: Rodri is replaced by Martin Zubimendi

Nothing to separate the teams as the referee blows the whistle for half time.

Freekick comes in from Rice which is flicked into the path of Foden by Le Normand. Foden takes a shot from a tight angle which Simon saves to keep it 0-0.

Carvajal gibes the ball away to Bellingham on the right. He finds Kane at the edge of the box who takes a shot. Brilliant block from Rodri to clear the ball away. Walker tries to win the ball but is fouled by Williams.

Laporte plays a beautiful through ball to Morata inside the box. He tries to cut past Guehi by the English defender does well to hold him off as Stones clears the ball away for a corner.

Spain is doing a good job of keeping England at bay, but cannot find the right players on the counter.

England has the ball now. Foden is playing more centrally like he did in the semifinal. Stones strides forward with pace but is stopped by the Spanish defence.

All of Spain’s players are in England’s half now. Rodri gives the ball to Ruiz who overhits his cross into the box.

Spain takes a corner short from the right. The ball comes to Olmo at the edge of the box, who attempts a shot which lacks power. The English defence does well to clear it away.

Half and hour gone and both teams are playing at a safe pace. Spain has had more possession of the ball but England has looked more dangerous on the counters.

Yamal tries to have a run past Shaw, but the left-back pokes a toe out to concede a corner.

Olmo is booked for a harsh foul on Declan Rice.

Spain with possession once again. Ruiz gets the ball and goes past Mainoo and tries a shot with his weak foot. The ball deflects off Guehi and Pickford catches it comfortably.

Fabian Ruiz seems all fit to play after receiving treatment on the pitch.

Harry Kane is the first one in the book after a bad challenge on Fabian Ruiz.

Yamal tries a cross from the right now. Pickford makes an easy catch but the clearance is poor and Yamal gets the ball on the right side of the box. Guehi holds him off well as the ball goes out.

Cucurella almost gives the ball away with Saka close by. Saka makes a challenge but the referee plays advantage and here comes Spain again.

Ruiz tries to wriggle away from England players but ends up giving the ball away to Foden who wins a freekick in his own half.

England is looking promising on the counter. Shaw has been a positive inclusion in the lineup with crosses coming in from the left.

Carvajal gets the ball and tries to find Williams at the far post. Easy catch for Pickford in the end. 

Stones with a risky back pass which Pickford has trouble bringing down.

England is on the attack now. Saka lays the ball off to Walker who made a run down the right flank. He passes it into the middle the first time but Laporte is there to make an easy clearance. 

Corner comes in from Williams and Rodri heads it down to Le Normand. The center back attempts a shot but it goes wide.

Williams with space on the left wing. He takes his time and tries to get past stones and hits with his left. Stones with a brilliant tackle to block the shot and concede a corner.

Pickford launches a ball out front. Bellingham wins a freekick in the opposition half after Rodri mistimes his tackle. 

Shaw takes the freekick but the referee blows the whistle for a foul on Laporte.

Williams gets the ball on the left wing and tries to link up with Olmo and Ruiz. Rice steps in and intercepts the pass to clear the ball away from danger.

England looks happy to sit back and let Spain have the ball. Laporte and Le Normand are making their way into the opposition half, passing the ball around.

Bellingham wins the ball but Spain quickly retains possession. Olmo plays a ball into the box from the right. Stones flicks away the ball and puts in a low pass. Stones stretches a leg out to concede a corner.

Spain starts the match with possession of the ball. Laporte plays a diagonal ball for Yamal but he is pushed off the ball by Luke Shaw who is making his first start of the tournament.

England kicks off the match shooting from left to right. Spain is looking for a record fourth European Championship title while England is seeking a maiden title.

Giorgio Chiellini brings the trophy into the stadium and places it on the stand.
